I'm popping up on your screen again to share another recipe with you! I'm not a food blogger. I've said it before. I'll say it again. I take absolutely no credit for any of the recipes I share with you. But most of my followers are female so I figured it couldn't hurt to clue you in when I come across a MUST have recipe.
I find it so interesting when foods have geographical ties. (I guess I have a really boring life?) Especially when you find differences within one region. For example I am from Alabama. I moved to Kentucky in 2013. I would consider these both southern states but I have come across foods that are prepared very differently between the two (like noodles in chili! WHAAT?? *Ahem* Kentuckians). Some of my favorite dishes in Alabama seem to be unheard of when I poll my friends in Kentucky.
I have determined that it is one of my primary callings in life to bring light to this situation and right all the wrongs. So today I am bringing you one of my absolute favorite recipes. MOCHA COFFEE PUNCH. If you don't like coffee but you like chocolate milkshakes then press on! You just might find you're a fan of this punch.
I first tried this punch at a bridal shower my church hosted one pleasant spring Sunday afternoon. You know, back in the day where bridal showers consisted of cakes, nuts, punch and those little pastel mints you'd (read "me") make yourself sick on? I can't tell you who the bride was. I think I was 10? But I sure did remember this punch. I'm not sure my mom knew that the punch had coffee in it or I might not be sharing this with you today. Close call.
So there I was in Alabama living my life thinking that everyone knew of this punch and it is a natural addition to any adult's beverage rotation. Until I turned 30. I always knew that the wisdom of life would hit me when I turned 30 but I was not expecting this particular revelation. My family threw me a FRIENDS themed 30th birthday party ( I won't go into how amazing it was because we'd be here all day but I have included some photos!) so naturally coffee had to be included. But it was June and just SO hot. My sister remembered this Mocha Coffee Punch Recipe and it literally made my life and the party!
I was blessed to have many friends from different states come to celebrate with me. This was when I first noticed something... I observed their bewildered looks as they poured their glasses full of punch and then nodded knowingly as the bewilderment was replaced with sheer awesomeness! I returned to Kentucky and told other friends of my wonderful celebration and the coffee punch. I observed the same looks of bewilderment on their faces.
Who are these people and how have they been living their lives without this divine goodness? I didn't know the answer to that but I knew that I could help them. So that is what I am here today to do.
Friends. I bring you:
Mocha. Coffee. Punch.
(You can thank me later).

Ingredients:
4 Cups of Water
4 cups Sugar
2 oz. Instant Coffee Granules
1/2 Gallon Chocolate Ice Cream
1/2 Gallon Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 Gallon whole Milk
Directions:
1. Bring water to a boil in saucepan.
2. Add the sugar and coffee granules. Mix until sugar and coffee are dissolved.
3. Let stand to cool. Pour into jars. (Syrup can be stored in the fridge for an infinite period of time.)
4. When ready to serve: combine chocolate ice-cream & milk in a large punch bowl.
5. When ice cream starts to melt, add 1 cup of the coffee syrup and mix until the mixture resembles a milkshake.
A few things to note!
1. You need to read the recipe through before beginning as the coffee syrup needs to be made a head of time.
2. Punch is best when ice cream is still cold and lumpy.
3. Jars. Whatever jars you have. I told you I'm not a food blogger. I have no professional advice or guidance for what this means. I trust you.
I sincerely hope you enjoy. I am pretty confident that you will. I discovered this punch at a bridal shower, but it is perfect for a birthday party or a fall/holiday themed party as well. Actually, it's just perfect for any time of year.
Had you heard of this coffee punch before? If so, then please let me know in the comments and include where you are from! You will aid me in my very professional "research" on this subject of geographical foods, ha ha!
Dedication: I do want to take a quick moment to thank my sweet husband and wonderful family for making my birthday so special. My husband suggested the theme and provided man power for set up. But my sister really blew me away with the decorations. My father built this door just for my party! And my mother "catered" my favorite foods.
